Italy – here we come!
Axel Månsson A / S and 14 other Danish food companies participate when the Crown Prince couple and two Danish ministers go to Rome on Tuesday.
The Danish delegation will introduce the Italians to Danish food, and it is especially the fresh organic vegetables, that we hope the Italians will think tastes good.
In addition to displaying the products on photo and film, the Brande vegetables will also be used for cooking. This is happening in connection with a so-called Gastro Event, where two Danish and two Italian chefs try with Danish commodities. In addition, we have packed a delicious package of fresh seasonal items, which the chefs will play with.
We already have had a good agreement with the exporting iceberg lettuce to Italy for several years, so we know that Italians have some understanding of the quality of danish products. Now we believe it is time to introduce organic products that are produced sustainably and with a high focus on food safety.
The three-day export expedition takes place in Rome, where it is more easy to get in touch with the nationwide supermarket chains and other relevant customers.

To be able to obtain the best possible conditions for this year’s demo garden we are draining the area – as far as the eye reaches !
For the 6th time we are planning the Maansson demogarden, as we call it…
This “garden” (which actually has grown and now seizes 2 organic fields) – we test a lot of new species each year.
We test both the cultivation ability – can we grow this crop organically, on sandy soil, in the cool Midjutland, with the machinery that we are commonly using?
But we also test the merchantability – do the consumers like the crops, do the purchasers?, can the products be sold in the Maansson farm shop?, on vegetable markets?, in the retail stores?, isit meant for the gastro segment?, for the meal boxsolutions?, etc.
The garden is alos very much used for our guided tours – which in this way has an element of innovative garden walks – for photo sessions, tastings, etc.
Michelin farmers live here
Today, February 2nd 2018, world-renowned Michelin stars will be awarded to Denmark’s finest restaurants. Among the people keenly awaiting news of which restaurants have achieved this accolade are Danish farmers.
These are the farmers who supply the raw materials to the winning restaurants – and they are located on the Danish Agriculture and Food Council’s new interactive map of Denmark.
To view the map, click here: http://lf.dk/michelin
“Our aim is to expand the gastronomic map of Denmark,” says Karen Hækkerup, CEO, Danish Agriculture and Food Council. “Wherever there is a Michelin restaurant, there are usually local suppliers able to deliver world-class products. We want to celebrate these farmers when the Michelin stars are awarded today.”
The new gastronomic map of Denmark flags up dairy farmers, sheep breeders, crop producers, etc. and gives Danes the opportunity to find out where they can sample the products that are served at Denmark’s finest restaurants.
“I hope that the map helps to build local pride in our talented farmers across the country,” says Karen Hækkerup. “People could even call into their local “Michelin” farm to buy Michelin carrots or Michelin meat to get a taste of Michelin star quality on their dinner table.”
The Danish Agriculture and Food Council is the main sponsor of the Michelin star awards at Copenhagen City Hall on Monday evening.
“I would like the Danes to open their eyes to the fact that there are world-class farmers living in their neighbourhood. Also, that more farmers will see the potential in collaborating with local restaurants, so we achieve even greater recognition for Danish agriculture and gastronomy,” says Karen Hækkerup.
