Michelin farmers live here
Today, February 2nd 2018, world-renowned Michelin stars will be awarded to Denmark’s finest restaurants. Among the people keenly awaiting news of which restaurants have achieved this accolade are Danish farmers.
These are the farmers who supply the raw materials to the winning restaurants – and they are located on the Danish Agriculture and Food Council’s new interactive map of Denmark.

“Our aim is to expand the gastronomic map of Denmark,” says Karen Hækkerup, CEO, Danish Agriculture and Food Council. “Wherever there is a Michelin restaurant, there are usually local suppliers able to deliver world-class products. We want to celebrate these farmers when the Michelin stars are awarded today.”
The new gastronomic map of Denmark flags up dairy farmers, sheep breeders, crop producers, etc. and gives Danes the opportunity to find out where they can sample the products that are served at Denmark’s finest restaurants.
“I hope that the map helps to build local pride in our talented farmers across the country,” says Karen Hækkerup. “People could even call into their local “Michelin” farm to buy Michelin carrots or Michelin meat to get a taste of Michelin star quality on their dinner table.”
The Danish Agriculture and Food Council is the main sponsor of the Michelin star awards at Copenhagen City Hall on Monday evening.
“I would like the Danes to open their eyes to the fact that there are world-class farmers living in their neighbourhood. Also, that more farmers will see the potential in collaborating with local restaurants, so we achieve even greater recognition for Danish agriculture and gastronomy,” says Karen Hækkerup.
